Exohi

Exohi is built amphitheatrically overlooking the River Sarantaporos and Mount Koukos (an area with dense oak forests). The old name of the village was Zelista. It is a mountainous village with an altitude of 720m in the area of Konitsa. It is 73 km north of Ioannina and 12 km away from Konitsa.  It is located near the border of Greece with Albania. 

In Exohi, there are several stone houses with a special architectural style. Next to Sarandaporos river, northwest of the village, in the location “Stena Sarandaporou” is the gorge of the homonymous river. It is between the villages Kavasila, Exohi and Pixaria. It has vertical walls, whose height sometimes exceeds 150 meters and it is characterized by remarkable riparian Mediterranean vegetation. Its length reaches almost 1 km.

The churches of the village are quite interesting. Their main characteristic is the oak trees and every visitor can admire their unique murals. Some characteristic churches are Taxiarches, Agios Dimitrios, Agia Kiriaki, Agios Kirikas, Agios Anargiros, Agios Minas, Agios Athanasios, the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (the main church of the village), Agios Nikolaos and Profitis Ilias. 

Also, a place worth visiting is the stone-built fountain of the village. It is located below the village towards the baths of Amarantos and this makes it unique as there is no other fountain built in this way.

Every August (15/8), a feast is held in the village square with local folklore musicians. There is a small traditional café where you can enjoy tsipouro and traditional snacks.
